Health & Well-being Project - Counselling and Therapeutic development project within the African and Caribbean communities.
To enhance health and wellbeing through holistic approach (considering all factors - physical, spiritual, emotional, mental, social conditions) and mentoring.
Mental Health is a major problem in Society affecting 1 in 4 people nationally. It is more prevalent in the Black and minority ethnic (BME) communities rising to a disproportionately 22% in mental wards for the African Caribbean community. This is usually within the young age group of 18 to 35 years old. Poor mental health has close links with socio-economic disadvantage.
Our aim:
To provide support and advocate for the needs of people living with mental illness within the community by making sure their voices are heard and that they are involved in making decisions that affect them.
To increase choices and better opportunities for project participants to have healthier lifestyles - healthier eating habits and regular physical exercises for a more active group of citizens.
